Not a Small World After All

In 1997, I was the keynot speaker for the New England Museums Conference in Hartford CT and gave this paper.  It represented a summary of the many issues I had learned by work with Native American people and other indigenous groups in many lands.  I believe that the native people’s demand that museums respect their culture and their world view has more profoundly changed museums than any other pressure group.  I am profoundly grateful to the many elders who carefully explained their views to me.  This paper, because it overlaps with other published works has never been published.  A copy is attached.
